How to Make the HP NX9010 Laptop Run Cooler
While the Hewlett Packard NX9010 laptop comes with a built-in fan to keep your logic board cool, the fan is limited in its ability to maintain your laptop's temperature and may require additional support to prevent damage from overheating. When you are running several programs simultaneously, including background processes, the logic board rises in temperature as it attempts to manage all of the programs. By reducing the number of programs open at the same time, as well as adjusting the placement of your HP NX9010 laptop, you can reduce the likelihood of overheating.

Download and install Windows Defender (see Resources for link).

Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the program window, and click "All Programs" on the pop-up menu. Select "Windows Defender" from the list of programs to open the selected program.

Click "Tools" at the top of the program window, and click "Software Explorer" from the pull-down menu. Click the programs in the software list, and click "Disable" to turn off auto-start on the selected program.

Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the desktop, and click the arrow button located next to "Shut Down." Click "Restart" on the pop-up menu to restart your computer and apply the Windows Defender's settings.

Place the laptop on a hard, flat surface. Surfaces that are uneven such as carpeting or a cloth-covered table can block the vents located on the back of the laptop. The vents must be uncovered to allow air to circulate and prevent overheating, according to the official HP site.

Avoid prolonged computer use. Shut the computer down when it is not being used, or set the computer to sleep mode to cool the logic board down.

Avoid sun exposure, as direct sunlight can cause overheating and over time can damage the laptop.
