Capital One frequent flyer miles can be redeemed for travel expenses such as airfares, hotels and rental cars. They do not expire as long as your credit card account stays open. However, you may lose any miles earned for a particular month if you pay that month's bill late. Redeeming the miles you have already earned is a simple process as long as you plan ahead and do not try to take your trip during a blackout period.
Earning Capital One Frequent Flyer Miles
Try to figure out your travel schedule as early as possible so you can take maximum advantage of any promotions that may be run throughout the year. Your normal earning rate depends on the type of credit card you have. The Venture card offers 2 miles per dollar spent. All other Capital One cards give you only 1.25 miles for each dollar you spend using on the card.
Requesting Redemption of Your Miles
Contact the Capital One Reward Center at 800-228-3001 to redeem your miles. You can reserve airline tickets up to 10 months in advance of the date of your trip. If you have already purchased a ticket or reserved a hotel room with your card and forgot to redeem miles ahead of time, you may request reimbursement for these items by sending in the pertinent receipts or other documentation.
