The Best Way to Price Wholesale Jewelry

The Best Way to Price Wholesale Jewelry thumbnail
Retail jewelry is typically priced three times higher than its wholesale cost.

When jewelry is purchased for resale the price should be lower than the future retail cost in order for the reseller to make a profit. This is true whether it is precious metal or costume jewelry. Typically, jewelry for sale in retail shops is priced three times higher than it cost to buy wholesale. This means a $300 item probably cost about $100 wholesale. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Determine how much you paid for each piece of jewelry by checking the invoice or sales receipt. If there were shipping and handling charges divide them by the number of pieces you purchased, and if there were no shipping charges make sure you determine the expense of picking up the jewelry, if that is applicable.

    • 2

Add the amount to the cost of each piece of jewelry and calculate their individual costs.

    • 3

Add the cost of packaging materials, such as cotton padding, bags, jewelry boxes, tissue paper or any other material that is used, to the total.

    • 4

Once you have calculated the total cost of each item the typical procedure is to double that amount to arrive at a wholesale price.
