Instructions for a Chain Basketball Net
Shooting hoops on a rim that doesn't have a net will not only rob you of the sweet swoosh sound of hitting a clean shot that's nothing but net, it will also force you to chase the ball down as it will bounce away because there is no net to stop it. Chain nets and nylon nets each have their own sounds, but chain nets are easier to put up and more durable than nylon nets.

Fit the S hooks to each of the 12 top hook connections of the chain net. Place a pair of pliers over the part of the S hook where the chain lies and crimp the S hook closed so that the chain cannot fall off the S hook. Make sure to close all 12 S hooks. Leave the other end of the S hooks open.

2
Position a ladder under the basketball hoop. Grab the chain net and climb the ladder so you can comfortably reach the rim while standing securely flat footed on the ladder. If you are out of reach, climb a higher rung on the ladder. Do not try to reach the rim by standing on your toes.

Place the open end of the S hooks on the rim's inner hooks. You can crimp the S hook closed so that it cannot fall off the rim, but this will make it much more difficult to replace. Chain nets last a long time if they are kept out of the rain so, in the winter, you will need to remove the net from the rim to preserve the life of the chain. Leaving the S hook open will allow you to remove it more easily but will also cause sections of the chain to come loose from the rim every so often.

Tips & Warnings
To avoid rust forming on your chain net, take it down for rainy days.
Do not jump up and grab the chain net as you can get your fingers caught in the net as you descend from your jump causing injury to your fingers.
Chain nets can damage fine leather basketballs.
