How to Clean a Salt Pool
Salt water swimming pools offer a slightly lower-maintenance alternative to heavily chlorinated freshwater swimming pools. Because their chemistry more closely mimics the chemical composition of the human body, saltwater pools can be easier on the skin and hair, and because of the salt content, can require fewer chemicals and less maintenance than freshwater pools. Cleaning techniques for saltwater pools also differ somewhat from freshwater pools. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

- Pool bush
- Leaf skimmer
- Pool vacuum
- Pool vacuum tube
- Vacuum head

Instructions

1
Skim the grass, leaves and surface debris from the pool. This will allow you to see into the water better to inspect the pool's floor and sides (or liner).
-
2
Scrub all surfaces within the pool using the pool brush attachment on the telescoping pole to remove any possible scum or grime.
-
-
3
Attach the tube to your pool vacuum, the pole to the tube, and attach the vacuum head to the pole, then vacuum all of the pool's surfaces. The vacuum will clean the debris knocked loose by brushing.
-
4
Refill the salt cell in the chlorine generator, as directed in the manufacturer's instructions. Salt pools use automated chlorine generators instead of manually applied chlorinating chemicals.
