  • 1 gallon bucket 3 1/2 cups boiling water 1/3 cup soap flakes 2 tsp. washing soda 1/2 cup vinegar or 1 tbsp. baking soda

      Fill a 1 gallon bucket with 3 1/2 cups of boiling water.

      Add 1/3 cup of soap flakes to the bucket. Stir until they dissolve.

      Pour in 2 tsp. of washing soda. Stir slowly so that you do not cause the soap to form suds.

      Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the solution. This will help to remove odors from the carpet. You can substitute the vinegar with 1 tbsp. of baking soda.

      Test the solution in an inconspicuous area on your carpet to ensure that it will not harm the fibers. Pour the solution into a carpet cleaner. Increase the recipe to clean larger areas.
