How to Apply for a Dual Citizenship With India
The Constitution of India forbids dual citizenship, but the Indian government made a decision to allow persons who migrated to other countries from India to become citizens of India through the Overseas Citizens of India program as long as their country allowed dual nationality. Citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh are ineligible for this program. Foreign citizens who were eligible to become citizens of India on January 26, 1950, or who belonged to a territory that was under Indian control after August 15, 1947, are eligible for the OCI program.
