How to Choose the Best-Sized Golf Clubs for Beginners
When purchasing golf clubs, there are many things you should consider as a beginning golfer. For example, determining exactly what clubs you should include in your set is an important consideration. Another consideration beginners should keep in mind is the size or length of a golf club. Nearly all golf club manufacturers produce clubs at a standard club length. However, as a beginner, you may want to think about choosing custom length golf clubs that fit your body type.

1
Hold a standard-sized golf club in front of you and take a few practice swings. If possible, ask a professional to watch you take your swing. If the standard-sized club doesn't feel or fit right with your body type, you'll need to choose custom-sized clubs.
-
2
Stand with your back straight and your feet about a foot apart. Relax your shoulders.
-
-
3
Dangle your arms by your side. Have someone measure the distance of your left wrist to the ground. Write down the measurement in inches. If you're a lefty, measure the distance from your right wrist to the ground.
-
4
Consult the custom golf club length chart. See "Resource 1" for a link to this chart.
-
5
Find your height at the top of the chart and then your corresponding wrist to floor measurement along the left side of the chart. Locate the number where the two measurements intersect.
-
6
Add or subtract the measurement you found in step 5 to the standard golf club length. Standard golf club lengths can also be found in "Resource 1."
