How to Remove Wallpaper With Carpet Freshener
Wallpaper can be difficult to remove. This is especially true for wallpaper that has a heavy adhesive backing and wallpaper that has been in place for more than 10 years. There are some easy tricks that will help loosen the adhesion of the wallpaper to make it much easier to remove. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Wire bristle brush or wallpaper scorer
- Carpet freshener
- White vinegar (if needed)

Score the wallpaper thoroughly using your wire brush or wallpaper scorer. Scrub the surface hard enough to perforate the paper without damaging the drywall underneath.

Spray carpet freshener on the surface of the scored wallpaper. Thoroughly saturate the entire surface to be removed, and allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes. In most cases, an entire container of carpet freshener will be required to complete the project.

Attempt to peel the wallpaper away from the wall. At this point, the peeling process should be quite easy. If the wallpaper is not easily peeling away from the wall, move on to step four.

Fill your carpet freshener bottle with white vinegar. It's okay if the bottle is not empty. Resaturate the surface of the wallpaper with this mixture. Allow the saturated wallpaper to sit for 15 minutes. Peel the wallpaper from the wall.
