Directions to Make Rag Rugs
There are many different types of rugs, but one of the oldest and easiest to make is the rag rug. If you are thinking about trying your hand at making a handmade rug, you might want to consider making a rag rug, which can be created simply from old cloth scraps that are lying around your house. To successfully make a rag rug, it is important to follow a few guidelines to ensure that the rug is sewn together correctly.
Instructions
-
-
1
Collect scraps of fabric from around your house.
-
2
Trim the scraps of fabric into pieces that measure 2 inches wide and 6 inches long.
-
-
3
Thread a needle, and sew the ends of the fabric strips together. This will create a long strip.
-
4
Repeat step 3 until you have three long strips.
-
5
Braid the strips of fabric together.
-
6
Coil the braid around in a spiral.
-
7
Pin the spiral using safety pins to prevent it from uncoiling.
-
8
Thread a needle and sew the braid of the coil onto itself, starting in the center and working your way to the outside.
-
9
Remove the safety pins, and place your rag rug onto the floor for use.
