How to Clean an OXO Good Grips Travel Mug

OXO International, Ltd. designs and manufactures many multi-user and ergonomic home and travel items including the Good Grips line of travel mugs. Different OXO travel mug designs, whether with or without handles, share common features such as double-wall plastic or stainless steel body and triple silicone seal locking system to make use and cleaning easier. As a result, the cleaning process for Good Grips travel mugs across designs is the same—a basic washing technique that many people use for cleaning regular dishes: hand washing of the individual travel mug pieces.

Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Mild detergent
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Basin (optional)
  • Dish rack (optional)
  • Non-abrasive scrubbing pad (optional)
  • Soft-bristled brush (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Press the button on top of your OXO Good Grips travel mug to the open position.

    • 2

Remove the lid. Typically, this requires turning the lid in a counterclockwise direction. Pour any liquid in the mug down a drain.

    • 3

Apply a few drops of mild detergent to damp, lint-free microfiber cloth and wipe the interior and exterior surfaces of the pieces—lid, cup and handle (if applicable)—to remove beverage residues and any dirt or other substances on the exterior of the pieces. If your travel mug has stains, fill a sink or basin with warm water and enough detergent to make the water sudsy. Soak the pieces in the wash water for 20 minutes and then wipe with a microfiber cloth.

    • 4

Rinse the pieces thoroughly and then wipe dry with a clean cloth or place in a dish rack to air-dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your OXO Good Grips travel mug has tough coffee or other stains, scrub the stains from the mug gently with a plastic-safe, nonabrasive scrubbing pad or soft-bristled brush.

  • Cleaning the mug after every use can reduce stain accumulation as well as the amount of scrubbing required to remove stains.

  • An OXO Good Grips travel mug doesn't require any additional sterilization beyond cleaning it with a mild detergent by hand after every use. Washing it in the dishwasher or attempting to sterilize it in a microwave can damage it.

  • Never use bleach or chlorine containing detergents or cleaners.
