How to Install Window Blinds & Shades
Window blinds and shades decorate more than just the window; they decorate the room. With the right blinds and shades, you can dress up a plain room. Blinds offer a minimalist look, though they are still elegant. Shades provide a bit more style. The instructions for installing blinds and shades are almost identical. They may vary depending on the size of the window or how many brackets are included with the blinds and shades. Does this Spark an idea?

Install the Blinds or Shades

Measure one inch in from either window jam. Mark these spots with a pencil. Measure the center of these spots and mark that, too.

Drill a hole for each marked spot.

Hold the installation brackets over the hole. Insert the screws and tighten.

Slide the head rail into the brackets at an angle, so that it slides under the top lip of the brackets. Push back until it snaps into place.

Remove the protective wrapping and plastic.

Unwind the cord. Lower the blinds or shades. Make sure they graze the window sill. If they don’t, they are too short. If they are too long, they will stack on the bottom of the window sill.

Tips & Warnings
If your blinds or shades come with a looped cord, you may want to cut the cord and tie the ends to prevent any hazards for children or pets.
