How to Disassemble a Glock Pistol
The Glock handguns are not the most beautiful pistols in the world, but they were never designed with aesthetics in mind. Instead, Glocks were designed for accuracy and reliability and they score very high in both of those categories. Several international police agencies have adopted the Glock as the sidearm of choice for their officers. In keeping with its simple design, the process for breaking down a Glock--whether to clean it or to replace parts--is a relatively simple process and can be accomplished without the need for any tools.

1
Press the magazine eject button. This will be located behind and below the trigger assembly. Pull the magazine out of the Glock's handle. Once the magazine is clear, rack the slide at least twice to eject any shells that might still be in the firing chamber. Unloading and clearing your weapon should always be the first step whenever you are working on any type of firearm.
-
2
Pull the slide back and visually inspect the firing chamber and magazine space to ensure that there are no errant bullets in the Glock. It is vitally important to be 100 percent sure that there are no bullets in the Glock, as disassembling a Glock requires the trigger to be pulled once before it can be taken apart.

3
Rack the slide back once more to pull the hammer back and put the Glock in the "ready-to-fire" position.
-
4
Aim the Glock in a safe direction. The floor is a good place to aim unless you are in an upstairs apartment. Pull the trigger.
-
5
Pull the Glock's slide back about an eighth of an inch. Be careful not to pull it back far enough to engage the trigger. Hold it in place with one hand.
-
6
Use your free hand to pull the take-down lever down toward the trigger. It is located in the center of the Glock, just above the trigger. This will free up the slide and you can now push the slide forward and off of the frame.
-
7
Set the frame aside and turn the slide over so that you are looking into the innards of the slide. Use your thumb to push the recoil spring forward, then lift it up out of the slide.
-
8
Pull the barrel backward and up out of the slide. Doing this will complete the disassembly of the Glock.
