Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the mop with a commercial treatment. Treating the mop will help the mop to collect the dust rather than pushing it around. Read the directions on the label to ensure the treatment will reach its maximum benefits. Microfiber mops collect dust without needing to be treated.

    • 2

Select a width for the dust mop which will be the most beneficial for the floor space. Large areas with minimal interrupted space can use a wide mop. Small areas with objects on the floor will benefit from a shorter mop that is easier to maneuver.

    • 3

Hold the mop handle at a 45 degree angle and push the mop forward. Keep the mop head on the floor and do not pull the mop backward.

    • 4

Begin dusting at the entrance of the room and dust along one wall. Turn at the end of the wall and overlap the path that was just dusted. Continue to dust in rows and finish the room by pushing the mop through the entrance door.

    • 5

Shake accumulated dust inside a large plastic bag or into a large garbage bin. Remove remaining dust with a stiff-bristled brush. Heavily soiled mops should be laundered and air-dried before adding a commercial treatment. Hang the mop on the wall with the yarn facing away from the wall.
