Atomic Web, for instance, adds tabbed browsing to Safari. iCurtain adds to that the ability to download files from the Internet for one dollar more from the App store.

Tips & Warnings

  • iCurtain enables both tabbed browsing and downloads from the Internet for $1.99.

  • As of July 2010, a port called Frash will run Flash content on the iPad, but it requires jailbreaking the iPad. Jailbreaking is the process that unlocks the operating system and allows the user access to the root directory. According to Apple, jailbreaking voids Apple's warranty on the iPad, but the warrantied iOS can be quickly restored in iTunes.

  • The main rub against the iOS is that it does not support Adobe's Flash or Web content with Flash files, and that Firefox and Internet Explorer, the most popular browsers, cannot be installed on the iPad.
