Instructions

    • 1

Move the furniture outdoors if possible. This will prevent the mold spores from spreading around in the confined area. Wear a mask and rubber gloves to protect your health.

    • 2

Fill a spray bottle with distilled water. Spray the mold with the water. Wipe the mold off the wood furniture with a washcloth.

    • 3

Mix 1/4 tsp. of bleach with 1 cup of water in a container. Soak a washcloth in the solution and wring out any excess liquid.

    • 4

Test the chlorine solution on an inconspicuous area on the furniture. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes. If the chlorine does not affect the wood furniture, you can safely apply it.

    • 5

Wipe the furniture with the washcloth to kill the mold. If the mold still appears present, you can remove it with a laundry detergent solution.

    • 6

Mix 1 gallon of warm distilled water with 1/2 cup laundry detergent in a bucket. Dampen a sponge with the detergent solution and wipe down the furniture to disinfect it.

    • 7

Rinse the solution off with clean water and a washcloth.

    • 8

Apply the bleach solution to the wood furniture again to kill any lingering mold spores. Rinse the solution off with clean water. Allow the wood to air dry in the sunlight.
