How to Replace Tweeters for IL-10 Infinity Speakers

Infinity IL-10 speakers are two-way home speakers. Each speaker contains a woofer for low frequencies and a tweeter for high frequencies. On occasion the tweeter of the speaker may prove defective or is damaged by excessive volume during playback. Replacing the tweeter can be accomplished by the do-it-yourselfer.

Instructions

    • 1

      Remove the speaker's grille by grasping the side of the grille and pulling it firmly toward you. The grille will pop off and is easily replaced by pressing it back on firmly.

      Unscrew the two Phillips screws on either side of the tweeter. The tweeter is the smaller of the two speakers, mounted on the panel above the larger woofer.

      Pull the tweeter out of the front panel of the speaker. Unplug the two wires that are connected to the tweeter by grasping them and pulling them off with a sharp tug.

      Plug the wires into the new tweeter. Each wire will have a small barrel connector on the end--slide these over the pins on the back of the new tweeter.

      Place the new tweeter into the speaker and screw it in place with the screws you removed earlier. Replace the grille.
