How to Install an XM Radio in a Ford Focus

XM Radio is a Satellite Radio service that allows the user to listen to music of different kinds, regardless of where they are in the United States. When paired with a Ford Focus, you can listen to music of your choice while cruising the city, or going on a long road trip. While professional installers exist to install XM, you can save money by doing it yourself.

Things You'll Need

• XM Radio setup kit
• Putty knife

Instructions

1. Attach the adhesive in your self-install kit to the XM radio antenna. Affix the antenna on the top of your car, positioning it at the center of the rear of your vehicle.

2. Use the putty knife to lift up the adhesive holding the rear window of your Focus.

3. Slide the wire connected to the antenna underneath the adhesive you are lifting up.

4. Route the wire one one side of your car interior, placing the wire under the car siding wherever possible. Place the wire under the siding at car doors when you encounter them.

5. Connect the headphone end of the antenna cable to the antenna port on the XM tuner.

6. Mount the XM Tuner on the car by using either the vent mount that comes with your kit, or the dashboard mount.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't want to tuck the cable under anything, use velcro strips to bind the cable to your carpet.
