Kenmore has a line of refrigerators and freezers with built-in automatic ice makers. By lifting the the signal arm, the ice maker sends a signal to a valve to turn on and release water into an ice tray. The water freezes in the trays and a sweep fork pushes the ice cubes into the holding bin. Does this Spark an idea?

      Lift the cover of the automatic ice maker. Lift the bottom of the cover and slide the cover over the top of the ice machine.

      Turn on the automatic ice maker. Reach into the ice machine and lift the signal lever. The signal lever looks like a bent coat hanger. Move it upwards to the "On" position, using your hand.

      Close the cover to the automatic ice machine. Pull the cover from the top of the ice machine and cover the ice bin.
