How to Repair Teakwood on a Boat
Teak is a type of wood that can be used for many applications, such as a swim platform on a boat. If the teak is beginning to deteriorate, it will need to be replaced. This is a project that you can do at the end of the boating season or at the beginning. You can repair teak wood on a boat by first determining what, if any, teak needs to be replaced or re-finished.

1
Find and remove the bolts that are used to secure the platform to the rear or stern of the boat with a socket wrench. Turn the wrench counterclockwise to remove the bolts then set them aside.

2
Determine how many planks on the platform will need to be replaced. Find and remove the screws that secure the planks to the platform with a screwdriver and set them aside. Take the old teak planks off of the platform.

3
Measure the length of the old planks with a tape measure. Transfer the measurements to the new teak planks and mark where they will need to be cut with a pencil.
-
4
Cut the teak planks to the required length with the circular saw. Apply teak oil to the cut planks with a paintbrush to match the existing planks if necessary.
-
5
Place the planks on the platform and mark the location of the screw holes with the pencil. Remove the planks then drill a small hole on each mark with the power drill for each screw.
-
6
Set the planks back into place and secure them to the platform with the screws using the screwdriver.

7
Set the platform back into place at the rear of the boat and re-attach it with the bolts, using the socket wrench.
