How to Disassemble a Glock 22

The Glock 22 (G22) pistol is a standard size handgun chambered in .40 caliber. The .40 caliber was designed to combine a heavier bullet with a high magazine capacity in a standard size handgun. In essence the .40 caliber is a cross between a .45 ACP and a 9mm. The G22 enjoys worldwide popularity among military and law enforcement agencies. This light-weight handgun requires no special tools to disassemble and is designed for ease of use and simplicity.

Instructions

    • 1

With your G22 pointed in a safe direction, press the magazine release on the left side of the pistol (next to the trigger guard) and remove the magazine.

    • 2

Verify that your G22 is unloaded by pulling back the slide and engaging the slide-stop lever, located above the trigger guard (locking the slide in the back position). Press down on the slide-stop lever and let the slide move forward.

    • 3

Grasp the top of the slide with one hand and pull down on the slide-locks (on each side of the lower receiver over the trigger guard) and pull the slide back approximately 1/10 of an inch. With the slide-locks still down, push the slide forward until it separates from the grip.

    • 4

Remove the spring assembly from the slide by lifting off the small step at the end of the barrel.

    • 5

Lift out the barrel from the slide. Your G22 is now disassembled.
