1
Invest in a collection of rubber stamps. You can start small at first with theme-specific stamps that will allow you to make greeting cards for a certain special occasion, such as birthdays, weddings or holidays. Check clearance bins for slightly damaged stamps that might still be of use to you and your card making projects.

2
Practice your rubber stamping on scrap papers. Before stamping directly onto your greeting card, get some practice applying your ink. Dab lightly and press evenly to properly distribute the image. Too much ink will cause your design to smear, not enough and you will lose some of the design.

Fold a piece of cardstock in half to create the base for your card. Accessorize your cardstock with other strips of paper if desired. Accent with strips of rice paper, colorful cardstock, tissue paper or even pieces of recycled paper. Double stick tape or scrapbooking glue is ideal for this project.

Stamp your card as desired. You can stamp the front cover of the card or the inside as much as you like. If stamping the inside of your card, allow it to dry fully before closing. Consider layering the inside cover with a sheet of tissue paper to prevent your ink from bleeding through to the front cover of your card. Write a message inside the card.

Consider making your own rubber stamps for truly original creations. To put a personal touch on your cards, carve out your own rubber stamps from white school erasers. Choose a design for your stamp and use photo editing software to create a reverse of this design. Use a craft knife to carve out the imprint of your design. Dab in ink and press onto your card as desired.
