How to Take a Glock 26 Apart

The smallest handgun offered by Glock is the Glock 26, commonly known as the “Baby” Glock. The G26 is chambered in 9mm and comes standard with a 10-round magazine, although the Glock 26 will accommodate the high capacity magazines commonly used by the larger Glock 17 pistol. The G26 was designed for concealed carry, is lightweight and reliable. Glock pistols are designed to be simple and require no special tools to disassemble.

Instructions

    • 1

Point your G26 is a safe direction, press the magazine release located on the left side of the pistol next to the trigger guard and remove the magazine.

    • 2

Pull the upper receiver (slide) back with your non-shooting hand and engage the slide-stop lever (located just above the trigger guard), locking the slide in the rear position. Verify that the pistol is not loaded.

    • 3

Pull back on the slide, releasing the slide-stop lever, and let the slide travel forward.

    • 4

Place one hand over the top of the slide and the other on the slide-locks (located on each side of the lower receiver over the trigger guard). Pull down the slide-locks and simultaneously pull the slide back about 1/10 of an inch.

    • 5

Keep the slide-locks down and push the slide forward until it separates from the lower receiver.

    • 6

Turn the slide over and remove the spring assembly by lifting it off the step on the end of the barrel.

    • 7

Lift the barrel out of the slide. Your G26 is now field stripped.
