How to Make a Perfect 3D Star

Stars in 3D are a craft that can be completed by children and adults alike. Cut out the stars and customize the colors of the star to complement a certain holiday or theme. For Christmas decorations, craft red and green stars, for the Fourth of July use red or blue, and any other combination you desire for parties and events. Hang 3D stars to the ceilings, railings and other fixtures using string or hang the stars from your Christmas tree using ornament hooks.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper (various colors)
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Christmas tree hooks
  • Draw a five-pointed star on a piece of colored paper. Use a ruler to ensure every side of the star is the same length for more "perfect" stars. Place one piece of paper on top of the other piece and cut out the star shape. You now have two stars that are the same size and shape.

  • Cut from the point where two arms of the star meet to the middle of the star. Repeat this action on the other star.

  • Slide one of the stars on to the second star connecting the stars where the lines were cut. (in a corresponding color). Slide the first star on the second star from top to bottom.

  • Punch a hole at the top of the star and attach a string or Christmas tree hook to the top to hang the 3D star.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use crayons, markers and glitter to customize the stars for any occasion.
  • Please supervise children when working with scissors. An adult should cut the stars out of the template if the children are too young to use scissors.
