Update your satellite receiver to obtain the latest programming from around the world.

Fortec satellite receivers are "free-to-air" devices that receive no-fee unscrambled satellite programming from all corners of the world. The receiver comes with a USB port on the rear, allowing you to upload upgraded FTA bin files. These files are used to upgrade the receiver's programming so it can receive satellite TV signals. However, if you do not have a USB flash drive or USB hard drive it is possible to use a USB to serial cable connection with a serial based data device, such as a zip or other disk drive, instead.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the USB end of the cable into the USB port of the Fortec receiver. Make sure the receiver is powered down while performing these actions.

Connect the serial end of the cable into the serial port of the external disk drive.

    • 3

Plug the external disk drive into a local power outlet and power the device on. Insert the disk into the disk drive if it is not currently in the machine.
