How to Transfer Money From the UK to Malaysia
Transferring money from the U.K. to Malaysia is simple. There are a number of companies offering money transfer services, such as MoneyGram, Western Union and Xoom. The process of sending funds is simple: visit an agent and make the transfer. The process doesn’t involve bank accounts and the funds can be picked up by the recipient within ten minutes of the transfer. Additionally, you also may transfer funds online from the U.K. to Malaysia using companies such as PayPal, Moneybookers and Alert Pay.

Find an agent of MoneyGram, Western Union or Xoom in the U.K. Visit the company websites to find their agent locations in your local area. On the website, click on “Find Us” or “Find an Agent.” Enter your address to find an agent closest to where you live in the U.K.

Visit the agent location at the address from the website. You must bring a photo ID (passport or driver’s license), transfer amount and the company fee (calculate on the company’s website listed in the Resources section below). Complete the “Money Sender” form, which will ask for contact details of the recipient in Malaysia.

Give the form back to the agent after completing it. Pay the money and transfer fee, as well. After processing the transaction, the agent will give you a reference number, also known as a Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN). Give this number to the recipient, as it will be needed to access the funds.

Visit the website of the company that you want to send the money through. You can select PayPal, Moneybookers or Alert Pay. To calculate the company’s fee for sending a specific amount, visit the “Fees” page on the company’s website (see Resources for links).

Register with the company by providing personal details, such as email address, password, postal address, country of residence (U.K.), bank account or credit/debit card number. After providing this information, click “Submit” to complete the registration process.

Click the “Send Money” button on the home page. Provide the recipient’s email address in the “Email” field. Also, specify how much money you want to transfer.

Click the “Continue” or ”Send” button. Once you review the details and confirm the transaction, the recipient will receive an email notification from the company. This message will detail information on how to access the funds and deposit them into the bank account in Malaysia.
