1
Acquire a state or federal tax identification number or reseller license, or both, depending on your state's requirements. Contact your state's corporation or business division to find out what the requirements are to acquire a reseller or business license. Most wholesalers or distributors of furniture are going to require you to have this before you order from them. This helps the state track what you are doing for tax purposes and insures to the wholesaler that you are a business and not just a consumer wanting wholesale prices. There are fees involved and they vary in by state.

2
Research wholesale furniture companies. This is best done on the Internet; for example, if you were looking for patio furniture you would search for "wholesale patio furniture." Go to dailytrader.com and search under "furniture wholesalers." Some things to be aware of when choosing a wholesaler to buy from are their minimum order amount, either by dollar or by number of items, whether you can order one piece at a time, whether they drop-ship, if they are set up to send the item to your customer for you and what types of payment they accept.

Create a place to store your inventory. Storing furniture can be difficult if you do not have a lot of space. Renting a storage unit or warehouse is a great way to keep the items clean, dry and organized for your eBay furniture business. When each item arrives, you will need to inspect it to make sure there is no damage and that it is complete. Contact the shipper and the furniture company immediately if there are any problems. If all is well, store the item, list it on eBay and start making money. If you have a furniture supplier that will drop ship the item to your customers, this step would not be necessary.
