How to Put Sirius Satellite Radio in a 2008 Lancer ES

The Mitsubishi Lancer ES comes with an optional stereo system that includes Sirius satellite radio service. For Lancer owners who did not opt for the satellite system or purchased the vehicle from a previous owner, you can add a Sirius satellite radio receiver to your stock stereo system. You will need to establish the service through Sirius, and you'll need just one tool to have your satellite radio up and running in under one hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic cover on the bottom of the satellite radio's antenna. The plastic will peel from the antenna to reveal an adhesive that will stick to the roof of the Lancer.

    • 2

Determine a point on the Mitsubishi's roof that is three inches from the rear windshield. The antenna requires at least three inches of metal surrounding the installation point for best reception. Stick the antenna on the roof at the determined location and route the antenna cable toward the rear windshield.

    • 3

Lay the antenna cable along the seam between the roof and the Lancer's rear windshield. Tuck the wire into the seam with a trim panel removal tool and direct it around the window to the point at which the trunk opening meets the rear windshield.

    • 4

Open the Lancer's trunk. Feed the antenna wire under the weather strip and into the cargo area.

    • 5

Feed the antenna wire along the side of the trunk and into the main cabin of the vehicle. You can fold the rear seats forward or tuck the wire through the side of the seat while it is still upright.

    • 6

Route the antenna wire to the location of the satellite radio receiver. You can choose from a variety of viable mounting locations. Be sure to choose a spot that allows for easy access while not obstructing the driver's view.

    • 7

Place the satellite radio mounting dock on the dash or windshield. The back of the mount will stick to the surface you have chosen or you can drill two openings in the dashboard and mount the dock with screws.

    • 8

Place the receiver into the dock and connect the antenna wire to the outlet on the side of the unit. Plug the power cable into the receiver and into the cigarette lighter or 12 volt power source under the Lancer's factory stereo.

    • 9

Plug the signal cable into the receiver and insert the 3 mm jack into the auxiliary input on the face of the stock stereo.

    • 10

Follow the activation instructions within the satellite radio's manual.

Tips & Warnings
