How to Use a Splitter to Hook Up a Direct TV DVR thumbnail
Hooking up a signal splitter to a DirecTV DVR creates future exapnsion capabilities for watching TV in other rooms.

Using a splitter with satellite television systems such as DirecTV makes it possible to connect a digital video recorder (DVR) to a TV in one room, while leaving an extra cable connection to hook up satellite TV in another room at a later time, if desired. The technical name for a satellite TV splitter is a multiswitch, which contains several coaxial cable jacks for hooking up equipment. Available at electronics stores, the device connects from the main satellite cable to one or more DVRs, depending on the number of jacks.
