How to Create Your Own Lunch Box
Packing your own lunch can not only save you money, but it can increase the chances that you will eat a well-balanced, healthy lunch. Although many people take a paper bag lunch with them to school or work, it can be more fun to make your own handmade lunch box that can be customize to suit your personal style. To make a handmade lunchbox, it is helpful to follow a few guidelines to make sure that the lunchbox will be functional.
Things You'll Need
- 2 saw horses Clamps Press board Hand held circular saw Ruler Pencil Fine grain sandpaper Tacks Acrylic paint 2 small hinges with tacks Clasp hinge with tacks Handle with tacks Hammer

Place a sheet of press board in between two saw horses.

Clamp the pressboard into place.

Measure out six rectangles from the pressboard using a ruler and pencil; four rectangles that measure 8 inches long by 5 inches wide, and two rectangles that measure 5 inches long by 5 inches wide.

Cut out the shapes using a hand held circular saw.

Smooth down the edges of the pressboard using fine grain sandpaper.

Place one of the 8-inch by 5-inch pieces onto a table. This will be the bottom of the lunchbox.

Place the other two 8-inch by 5-inch pieces vertically along the 8-inch sides of the first piece, lining up the long ends.

Tack the pieces into place. These will be the sides of the box.

Place the 5-inch by 5-inch pieces onto either end of the box.

Tack the pieces into place.

Attach two small hinges onto one of the 8-inch by 5-inch sides. Space them out so that they are about 3 inches apart.

Attach the other sides of the hinges to the remaining 8-inch by 5-inch pieces of pressboard. This will be the lid of the lunchbox.

Attach a clasp hinge onto the front of the lunchbox. This will allow you too close the lunchbox securely.

Paint the lunchbox with acrylic paint.

Allow the paint to dry completely.

Attach a handle to the top of the lunchbox, and place your lunch inside the box.
