How to Customize Baseball Batting Gloves
Batting gloves serve a few different functions within the sport of baseball. They protect your hands from the "sting" of the bat when you connect with the ball toward the handle; they protect your hands when you slide, and they add a sense of style to your overall uniform appearance. Customizing your baseball batting gloves entails designing the style of the gloves to fit your style on the field. Several companies offer personalized gloves.

1
Select a size for your batting glove. Each company will offer a size chart for their measurements. Usually these size charts can be printed. You can then hold your left and right hand to the chart to determine what size to order.

2
Select the color pattern for your baseball batting gloves. Depending on the style of baseball glove, different companies will offer different places that colors may be chosen. Popular places are on the back of the hand, the fingertips and the adhesive strap. Think about your team colors when selecting so that your design will flow nicely with your uniform.

3
Add your number to your batting gloves. Some custom batting glove companies will embroider your number, name or nickname on the backside of the glove. This not only customizes it, but allows your batting gloves not to get mixed up with other team members' gloves.

4
Choose the style of grip you want for your batting gloves. Different companies will offer different grips in terms of thickness and tackiness. Tackiness refers to how strong the grip naturally will grab the bat. Sample a few different styles at your local sporting goods store to see what feels best as you hold the bat in your batting stance.

Get the gloves game-ready after you receive them. Some players add additional stickiness by using pine tar on their baseball bat and batting gloves. This allows the bat to form a firm grip in your hand. Other players who sweat a great deal will use a rosin bag on their batting gloves in order to dry up some of the excess moisture. If playing in exceedingly hot weather, some players even cut off the tips of their batting gloves so that their fingers are exposed. But be warned, once you remove the tip, it can't be reattached.
