How to Install Hampton Bay Ceiling Fans With Lighting
Hampton Bay ceiling fans are sold exclusively at Home Depot and most of them may be installed with or without the light kit provided with the fan. When installing multiple ceiling fans, verify that you have enough wattage to operate all fans on the same circuit. A 20-amp, 120-volt circuit provides 2400 watts, while a 15-amp, 120-volt circuit provides 1800 watts (amps x volts = watts). Find the operating wattage of the ceiling fan listed on the nameplate at the top of the fan motor and add the wattage of your light bulbs to the ceiling fan wattage, for total operating wattage per fan. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn the breaker to the "Off" position that provides electricity to the ceiling fans at the main service panel.
-
2
Test all the fan installation locations to confirm the power is disconnected; touch one prong of a two-prong electrical tester to the black wire inside the ceiling fan electrical box and the other prong to any metal on the box. If the tester fails to light up or register wattage, the power is correctly disconnected.

3
Assemble the Hampton Bay ceiling fans following the directions provided by the manufacturer. Locate the mounting brackets for the ceiling fans provided with the mounting hardware and attach them to the ceiling fan electrical boxes with the provided screws. Verify that each electrical box includes a black, white and bare copper wire.
-
4
Hang each assembled Hampton Bay fan in the hanging bracket to hold the weight of the fan while connecting the wires. Locate the white wire from the ceiling fan and connect it to the white wire inside the ceiling fan electrical box by twisting an orange wire connector onto the two wires. Connect the bare copper wire to the green wire attached to the hanging bracket using another orange wire connector.

5
Twist a red wire connector onto the black wire from the ceiling fan electrical box, connecting it with the black ceiling fan motor wire and the blue ceiling fan lighting wire.
-
6
Push all the wiring back into the electrical box behind the hanging bracket. Push the canopy over the hanging bracket and electrical box and attach it with four screws provided with the ceiling fan mounting hardware.
