How to Convert DVD to WMV on Vista

The WMV (Windows Media Video) file format was designed by Microsoft for streaming and viewing video on a personal computer. WMV files can be viewed in the Windows Media Player and other video player programs. Windows Vista users can download the Xilisoft DVD to WMV Converter, AVS Video Converter or Extra DVD to WMV Ripper to convert personal DVD movies to the WMV format.   1. Xilisoft DVD to WMV Converter

      Download and install the "Xilisoft DVD to WMV Converter" software (see Resources).

      Open the "DVD to WMV Converter" software.

      Insert the DVD into the computer's DVD drive.

      Click the "Open DVD" option under the "File" menu.

      Choose the DVD drive from the list of options. You can also choose a DVD folder or ISO file on your computer's hard drive.

      Choose the "WMV" format from the list of options under the "Profile" drop-down menu.

      Click the "Browse" button and choose the folder for the saved file.

      Click the "Start Ripping" button at the bottom of the main screen to convert the DVD.

      Download and install the "AVS Video Converter" software (see Resources).

      Open the "AVS Video Converter" software.

      Insert the DVD into the computer's DVD drive.

      Click the "Browse" button next to the "Input File" text box and choose the DVD drive, DVD folder or ISO file that you want to convert.
