To become a member of IATA or the International Airlines Travel Agent Network (IATAN), you must be accredited according to their guidelines. Member benefits as an IATA travel and tourism agent include global recognition in the industry and exclusive access to a vast number of suppliers affiliated with travel. Anyone who sells air travel and is currently working as an agent or airline employee can qualify for an IATA membership.

      Understand the IATA agency rules and passenger resolution. This will help you to become an accredited IATA agent. This information is available in the application kit on IATA's website.

      Verify whether or not you qualify for the criteria to become an IATA agent by completing the profile found in the accreditation kit. You are eligible if you sell air travel for a specific airline company or airlines in general.

      Register for a new IATA card online or download the application and complete all sections of the form that pertain to you. The agency agreement must be signed by the agency owner or main representative of the agency.

      Include the necessary fees for accreditation, which are listed in the application guide. Fees are non-refundable and can be paid with a credit card.

      Make a copy of the application for your records and send original copies to IATA/IATAN.
