You should not need to replace the fluid in your Dodge Grand Caravan’s power steering system unless you are changing the pump or reservoir. Check the fluid level every couple of weeks and top it off if needed. If you need to replace a component of the power steering system, the first step is draining the system completely of fluid. Use a bucket to collect the fluid, which should be disposed of safely.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your Dodge Grand Caravan on a level surface with the front wheels turned straight. Turn off the ignition.

    • 2

Raise the hood of your Grand Caravan. Locate the power steering reservoir near the center of the engine compartment. Loosen the clamp on the lower hose connected to the reservoir using a flat-bladed screwdriver. Remove the hose and insert the open end into a bucket beneath the compartment.

    • 3

Start the ignition of your Grand Caravan to cycle the power steering pump. When the pump engages, the power steering fluid will flow from the system through the hose into the bucket. Turn off the ignition when the fluid begins to slow to avoid running the system dry.
