How to Clean Out the Condensation Drain for a 1994 Saturn

The Saturn's air conditioner needs a way to release the natural build-up of condensation when the it is in operation. The release is through the condensation drain tube on the passenger side of the car's firewall. If the tube is clogged, the condensation will find an alternate escape route and usually it's onto the floor of the front passenger side of the car. When the tube is clogged, you can easily fix the problem yourself.

Things You'll Need

• Car ramps or jack stands
• Pen

Instructions

1. Drive the car onto car ramps or jack up the car and support with jack stands. Never work on a car that is only supported by a jack.

2. Crawl underneath the front passenger side of the car until are you under the car's firewall. The firewall separates the engine from the passenger compartment of the car. Look for a black plastic tube that is sticking straight out about 1 inch from the firewall. The tube is about 1/2 inch in diameter.

3. Push the pen all the way into the tube to clear out any blockages and then remove the pen. If a clog is present, be prepared for a flow of liquid from the tube.

4. Crawl out from underneath the car, drive the car off the ramps or remove the jack stands and gently lower the car to the ground.
