How to Make a Two-Color Embroidery Thread Bracelet
A great way to make a simple bracelet is by using embroidery thread, or floss. Embroidery thread bracelets are easy to make and personalize. You can make a two-color bracelet with little effort and keep it for yourself or give it to a friend as a friendship bracelet. Because embroidery thread comes in such a wide variety of hues, your options for a two-color bracelet are endless. You can create a bracelet using school colors to show team spirit, or holiday colors to add festivity to an outfit.
Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- 2 strands 30-inch embroidery thread in one color
- 2 strands 30-inch embroidery thread in another color
- Tape or clip
Instructions
-
-
1
Put the four strands of embroidery thread together and tie them into a knot about 2 inches from the top.
-
2
Secure the strings to a sturdy surface using a clip or piece of tape.
-
-
3
Separate the four strands of thread so that the two strands of each color are beside each other.
-
4
Hold the second string from the left as you flip the first string across it, creating a loose loop.
-
5
Pull the first string under the second and then back through itself to form a knot.
-
6
Pull the knot to the top of the second string until it is secure, then repeat to form a second knot and pull it to the top as well.
-
7
Place the first string in the second string's position so that the second string has now become the first string from the left.
-
8
Repeat the knotting process on the third string, using the new second string to make two knots.
-
9
Put the second string where the third string used to be, and repeat the knotting process again on the fourth string so that you now have a solid stripe of color as the first layer of the bracelet.
-
10
Repeat the previous steps with the new first and second strings.
-
11
Continue making stripes of color until your bracelet has reached your preferred length.
-
12
Tie the end of the bracelet into a knot and trim off the excess thread.
