How to Draw a Hippie Van
The Volkswagen minibus, also known as the "hippie van," gained its nickname through its strong ties to the hippie movement of the 1960s in the United States. The simple design of this type of van makes it an easy subject for a drawing. The body of the van is more or less a rectangle. There are four windows on each side, wheels underneath, and round headlights that barely protrude from the body of the vehicle.

Draw a rectangle, approximately twice as wide as it is tall, with rounded corners. This is the body of the van. Angle the front end so that it bulges outward slightly. The bottom side of the rectangle will protrude out from the top edge of the rectangle at the front of the van.

Draw four squares inside the rectangle, in the top half, starting at the front end of the van and ending approximately 2/3 of the way from the back of the van. The back of the van is where the engine is, and there are no windows in the rear 1/3 of the van.

Draw a little circle inside the front edge of the rectangular body of the van, 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. This is the headlight.

Draw two round wheels poking from the bottom edge of the van, one toward the front, and one toward the back. Inside each wheel, draw a circle for the hubcap.

Tips & Warnings
Many hippie vans of the 60s had designs that the hippies painted on them. If you'd like to replicate this, draw a design of several large daisies on the side of the van. Paint or color the van in bright, rainbow colors.
