Finding a government minority grant can sometimes be a challenging process.    Check the government website grants.gov to find grants for minorities. These grants will be listed in various areas of concentration, so you may want to start with an advanced search in the department that you need. For example, minority education grants will more easily be found using the advanced search option of the Department of Education database.

2. Register at the government website. To apply for a minority grant, you will need to first register as an organization such as a business or non-profit agency or as an individual. You are advised to register early, as it takes up to four days for registration to be completed and many grants are time-sensitive.

3. Download an application package. Once your registration has been completed, you are free to download an application from the website. The application will contain all of the forms needed for your grant.

4. Complete the application offline. Although the application will be submitted electronically, the application must first be completed offline. Make sure that you have the number of the minority grant that you are applying for. Without the grant number, the agency will not be able to know what grant you are applying for. The application must be completed entirely before the next step.

5. Submit your application. Once you have completed your application, you will need to log back on to your registered account using the user name and password assigned to you and upload your application. You will then check your application for errors. Once you are ready to submit your application, click the "submit" button. A confirmation page with your application tracking number will open.
