How to Find a House in Ireland
As an island country, Ireland has much to offer those who wish to settle down in the area. Aside from miles and miles of rugged coastline and sprawling countryside, Ireland also offers the thriving metropolis of Dublin. If you include Northern Ireland in your search, you add the city of Belfast as well. If you want to find a house in Ireland, you can use one of the many online resources for house hunting or enlist a resident of the country to do the legwork for you.

Check out the MyHome Ireland page (see Resources). MyHome provides a tool to search residential properties in the country. You can choose any county in Ireland, choose any town in that county, select a property type, such as detached house or apartment, and enter the number of bedrooms you want and a maximum price into search.

Search Irish Properties (see Resources). Though the Irish Properties Web site states that the company specializes in residential properties, they offer a wide variety of options, including cottages, bungalows, holiday homes, farms, churches and castles. Categories on the main page of the Irish Properties site are divided by price, with listings for “Properties in Ireland Under 200,000 Euro” and “Luxury Properties in Ireland.”

Browse the Property Ireland page (see Resources). The free Property Ireland listing site contains listings of residential properties in Ireland, which are offered by either companies or individual sellers. Browse by county or by property type by clicking the link for “County” or “Property Type” in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

Go through an Irish realtor. The Europe Real Estate Directory provides a listing of real estate companies located in Ireland, and RE/MAX Ireland has offices in locations throughout both Ireland and Northern Ireland. When you find a realtor, call him and let him know what type of property you want to buy, and the realtor can provide you with a list of properties that fit your specifications and set up appointments to show you the properties in person.
