Sunburns happen all the time to even the most cautious of outdoor goers and can often cause a great deal of pain. If you have gotten a sunburn and don't have any traditional treatments on hand, there are a number of other ways you can treat the burn and get your skin back to normal. One surprising and easy way to treat a sunburn involves using a clean cloth and a little bit of milk from your fridge.

  • 2 clean cloths
  • Whole milk
  • Glass bowl

      Pour some whole milk into a glass bowl.

      Soak a clean cloth in the milk, making sure to completely saturate the cloth with the milk.

      Ring out the cloth so it is not dripping, and then apply the milk-soaked cloth directly to your sunburn for 20 minutes.

      Gently wipe off the milk residue from your skin using another clean, wet cloth.

      Repeat the process every two to four hours, as needed for pain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use whole milk, or the milk you have with the highest fat content. The fat from the milk is what soothes your skin.
