How to Get Burnt Rubber Gloves Off Stainless Steel

Burnt plastic from rubber gloves can be difficult to remove from stainless steel

Stainless steel is a popular material for kitchens because it resists stains and is relatively simple to clean. One of the most important rules for cleaning stainless steel is to avoid using abrasive metal scrubbing pads. Thus, when cleaning difficult stains it is necessary to loosen them first with a solution and carefully scrubbing them away. One of these tough stains is from melted rubber gloves.

Things You'll Need

• Spray bottle Water Mild dish-washing detergent Soft bristled brush Baking soda Cloths

Instructions

1. Fill a spray bottle with warm water and add several drops of mild liquid dish-washing detergent. Close the top of the bottle and shake it to mix the soap with the water.

2. Spray the soap mixture on the burnt rubber glove stain until it is completely soaked. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

3. Scrub the stains with a soft bristled brush until the stain has been completely removed.

4. If the stain is still visible, add enough drops of water to a tablespoon of baking soda so that a paste is formed.

5. Rub the paste over the rubber glove stain with the corner of a damp rag. Baking soda is mildly abrasive so use care as to not scratch the surface of the stainless steel.

6. Rinse the area with clear water to prevent streaking.

7. Rub the stainless steel with a soft cloth until it is completely dry. This will prevent watermarks from developing.
