How to Remove Words From a Song

A number of free applications are available for download from the Internet to remove vocals from a song. Wavosaur and Mixcraft are two such applications that offer a number of song editing features. On Mixcraft, you will have to add a plugin to be able to remove vocals completely. If you have Winamp installed on the computer, you can download a small plugin, which will add the vocal removing feature to your Winamp as well. If you don’t have Winamp, you can download it for free from its website.

Using Winamp Plug in

  • Download and install Winamp on the computer (see Resources). If you already have the application, skip this step. Winamp is a media player for music and videos. You can add a plugin to it for enabling any specific feature.

  • Download the “Vocal Remover” plugin for Winamp (see Resources).

  • Run the installed plugin file and it will install on its own.

  • Locate the song that you want to remove vocals from. Right-click on the file and select “Open” > “in Winamp.”

  • Go to “Options” on the Winamp window.

  • Go to “Preferences” > “DSP/effect.”

  • Select the “Vocal Remover” plugin from the list.

  • Use the slider bar to decrease the frequency of vocals in the song.
