- Fabric square (6 by 6 inches)
- Stencil
- Marker (black)
- Fabric paint (assorted)
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors

Spread the fabric square out and smooth out any creases or wrinkles. Make sure it is flat.

Place the stencil of your choice over the center of the fabric square.

Trace the outline of the stencil with the marker. Discard the stencil.

Color in the tracing with your choice of fabric paint colors. For example, you can create a bold, deep colored rose or a vibrant butterfly. The choice is entirely up to your creativity and mood. Let the paint dry for about an hour.

Flip the square over and squeeze a thin layer of hot glue over the entire surface. Make sure the glue layer is less than 1/4-inch thick. Let it dry for about an hour.

Cut the design from the square carefully, making sure not to damage the painted applique in the center. Repeat these steps for all of your iron-on fabric appliques to create your own collection of custom designs.
