   Your resume should show all child care experience, as well as other jobs. Your references should include those you have worked for(both in and out of the child care field) and personal references that are not related to you.

2. Join a nanny agency that specializes in placing nannies in New York and surrounding areas. Examples of these are www.nynanny.com, and www.tsnnannies.com.

   When you join an agency, you will indicate how many children you can care for at once, what duties you are willing to do, and whether you would like to live with the family you work for or in your own home.

3. Set up meetings and interviews with potential families.

   If you live out of New York City, this may mean purchasing a plane ticket. If so, try to schedule all your interviews within a few days time to avoid multiple trips.

4. Remain professional and polite during your interviews. Be honest about your expectations for your job and the family you work for, and be honest about how you can meet the family's expectations.

5. Choose the family you would like to work for based on pay, job expectations, personal chemistry, and your instinctive appraisal of the situation.
