How to Buy a CAD Laptop
A CAD laptop is a laptop computer that is intended to be used primarily with drafting and design utilities, called CAD software. You don't need to buy a specially designed CAD laptop to accomplish this, but you do have to make sure whatever laptop you buy is going to be able to run your program of choice. You will also have to consider a few other things if you're in the market for a CAD laptop.

Set a maximum price that you're willing to pay. Write down on a piece of paper the most amount of money you're willing to spend on your laptop and keep it with you while you shop. Tell yourself that you're not going to spend a penny more, and only look at laptops in this particular price range.

Get a laptop with a high-quality 3D graphics card. Most modern CAD programs, like the popular AutoCAD, have 3D modes that allow you to view your designs in three dimensions. If your laptop doesn't support 3D graphics, you're not going to be able to take advantage of these features. The capacity of a 3D graphics card will be measured the same way regular memory is--in megabytes and gigabytes. The higher the number, the better the 3D graphics card will perform.

Look at the minimum system requirements of your CAD program, and then take a look at the specifications of any laptop you're thinking of using. In order to run your CAD program, your laptop will have to meet the requirements. At the very least, the specifications of your laptop need to match the requirements of the CAD software, though to be safe the laptop should really exceed them.
