How to Connect Silvertone Guitars to an Amp

How to Connect Silvertone Guitars to an Amp thumbnail
To connect the guitar to the amplifier, you must have a 1/4-inch instrument cable.

Without an amplifier, an electric guitar barely is audible. Silvertone guitars can be connected to virtually any amplifier, using an instrument cable and the 1/4-inch instrument jack located on the guitar. Once connected, many models have controls that allow you to adjust the volume level, tone and even select which pickups you would like to use on the guitar. Silvertone guitars with active electronics, which require a nine-volt battery, feature added controls such as bass, mid-range and treble.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the amplifier. Connecting the guitar to the amplifier while turned on can result in a loud pop that could damage the speakers.

    • 2

Locate the 1/4-inch instrument jack on the guitar. The jack typically will be silver and located on the bottom right side of the guitar (bottom left for left-handed guitars).

    • 3

Plug one end of the 1/4-inch instrument cable into the Silvertone guitar’s instrument jack. The cable will click into place.

    • 4

Plug the other end of the instrument cable into the 1/4-inch input jack on the amplifier. Again, push the cable into the jack until it clicks. Once these two cables are connected, turn on the amplifier and ensure that the volume controls on the Silvertone guitar are turned up.
