Request a Louisiana birth certificate in person for fastest service.

The fastest way to get a Louisiana birth certificate is to request it in person at a Vital Records Service Center. The Louisiana Office of Public Health website indicates that people can usually get a birth certificate the same day or within 24 hours when they request it in person. You can also request a Louisiana birth certificate online or by mail, but it will take up to four weeks to arrive. You must also pay an additional fee if you order a birth certificate online.
