Install updates on your satellite receiver with a USB flash drive.

The Viewsat Ultra Lite is a free-to-air (FTA) satellite receiver. The FTA Viewsat Ultra Lite receiver allows you to obtain programming from around the world that is not scrambled (like standard satellite programming), such as CNN and ESPN. To keep the receiver updated you need to upload data files, known as .bin files, to the receiver. This is done through the built-in USB port on the rear of the receiver.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the .bin files directly from the Viewsat website. Once it is downloaded insert the flash drive into a USB port on the computer.

    • 2

Click "Start," (My) "Computer" and double-click the removable device icon. When the window opens, click-and-drag the .bin files into the open flash drive window. The drive must not have any other files stored on the device, otherwise the upload will not work.

    • 3

Disconnect the USB flash drive from the computer, power down the satellite receiver and insert it into the USB port on the Viewsat Ultra Lite receiver.

    • 4

Power on the receiver and wait for the Viewsat Ultra Lite to detect the USB flash drive. Once it reads the drive, the receiver automatically uploads the .bin files. Depending on the size of the update, this process may take several minutes to complete.

    • 5

Remove the USB flash drive from the receiver once a message appears stating the update has finished.
