How to Build a Doll
Making a doll with your daughter can make the item more special and valuable. You only need a few hours and some extra fabric. If you are making this doll with a small child, sew the doll yourself and let the child decorate it with buttons or colored pens.

1
Cut out a doll shape on a piece of heavyweight paper. The doll pattern should be slightly bigger than you want the doll to be.
-
2
Trace the pattern onto two pieces of calico.
-
-
3
Cut out the two dolls. Place one piece over the other so that the right sides of the pieces of fabric are touching.
-
4
Sew the two pieces of fabric together using a straight stitch 1/4 inch from the edge of the fabric. Leave a 2-inch opening.
-
5
Turn the doll inside out, so that the right sides of both pieces of fabric are showing.
-
6
Fill the doll with stuffing.
-
7
Sew the 2-inch hole closed.
-
8
Add the doll’s features with the marker. Sew on buttons for eyes.
